Start em’ young.

You’ve read a lot of times that writing a lot makes one a better writer but reading  does the same too. Practice makes perfect says the old adage but reading fuels you to write more and somehow move you to be as good as your favorite author. This may sound late for some but it is actually never too late to start reading and reap its benefits. Some students hire advanced writers for their paperworks. It will cost them $$$ of course so to avoid doing that, here are some ways one can do to improve his/her writing by reading.

Make reading a “hard habit to break.” Bring a book whenever you’re out; you can read when using public transportation, when waiting for a friend. By reading you get to encounter words, idioms, you get to see how to form phrases and sentences and you are exposed to the style of different writers. When it’s your time to write, you can use the style you want best or combine and use words that you think is most appropriate.

Keep notes. One of the things I took upon highschool graduation is the habit of writing down words I don’t know the meaning of. I would then look at their definition in the dictionary when I come home, if I’m in the mood I would write sentences using that single word. It’s actually a homework that one of our English teachers made us do, I’m glad that she did.

Read a good book. Read whatever interests you, that’s what a good book means. Just because it’s not on the bestsellers list, doesn’t mean it ain’t good. If you’re into art, you’re most likely to be interested with the biography of a great artist, the collection that the Louvre holds or perhaps the value of posthumous paintings. If you’re into stories about the different cities and places of the worlds, travel books are for you.

Write a review. Even if it’s not a school requirement, you can write a book review of the latest topic you read and point out what you would have preferred or what could have been a possible alternate ending and stuff like that. Since you already have a grasp at the author’s style, you can write the same way he did or you can make it to your own style. Doing so would practice your writing skills and make you develop a sense of writing you can call your own. Also, when the time comes for you to write a book report, you can be sure of yourself and that you won’t need to pay a site like, whose writers are experts in their field, to do the job for you.

Enjoy. Reading and writing are fun and beneficial hobbies. Try being adventurous and read a book aside from the niche that you’ve always had…books offer a lot of surprises, you’ll never know unless you open and leaf through the pages.
